नई दिल्ली, 12 जनवरी – दुनिया भर के सिखों को हेलमेट की आवश्यकता वाले कार्यों में अपनी गर्वित पगड़ी के साथ काम करने का अधिकार सफलतापूर्वक जीतने के बाद, भाजपा सरकार ने देश में सिख सैनिकों के लिए तथाकथित विशेष हेलमेट पेश करने की योजना शुरू की है। दिल्ली शिअद के अध्यक्ष परमजीत सिंह सरना ने कहा कि यह पूरी तरह अस्वीकार्य है.
भारतीय सेना ने कथित तौर पर फास्ट-ट्रैक प्रक्रिया के माध्यम से सिख बलों के लिए लगभग 13,000 हेलमेट की आपातकालीन खरीद के प्रस्तावों के लिए अनुरोध जारी किया है।

सरना ने कहा कि विश्व युद्ध से लेकर 1962 में चीन के साथ युद्ध, 1965 और 1971 में पाकिस्तान के साथ कारगिल युद्ध तक, सिख सैनिकों ने अपनी पगड़ी पहनी और अग्रिम पंक्ति में बहादुरी से लड़े। अब उन्हें हेलमेट लगाने का क्या मतलब है?”

उन्होंने भाजपा सरकार को याद दिलाया कि द्वितीय विश्व युद्ध में भी अंग्रेजों ने सिख सैनिकों के लिए हेलमेट उपलब्ध कराने की कोशिश की थी, लेकिन ऐसा नहीं हो सका क्योंकि सिख सैनिकों ने इस कदम को खारिज कर दिया था। उन्होंने सरकार से भारतीय सेना के सिख जवानों के लिए हेलमेट योजना तत्काल प्रभाव से रद्द करने की मांग की।
